Thinking back and looking ahead
Happy New Year, everyone! Wow… 2012 ended with the culmination of lots of exciting projects! The lack of blog posts is a good indicator of where my priorities were in November and December, but the turn of the calendar has me anxious to share some recent work. Thinking back on 2012, I can’t help but feel so incredibly fortunate for all of my amazing clients. When I started Hammill Design a decade ago, I never imagined that those initial meetings would result in 10+ year relationships and cherished friendships. 2012 also brought along new meetings and design opportunities, including HD’s first international client, The American University of Paris (AUP). With the launch of their new logo and a need for a cohesive and modern brand, I’ve had the unique opportunity to redesign all of the materials, including this student handbook which was distributed at the start of the 2012 school year. The AUP Student Handbook includes easily accessible and important information along with a student day planner. The book was spiral bound and finished with a corrugated plastic cover. Their Spring Cultural Program brochure (now on press in Belgium!) outlines all of AUP’s exciting opportunities abroad. 2013 proves to be an exciting one for AUP as they celebrate their 50th anniversary. Their gala invitations have been designed and should be mailing soon. Bonne Année!
Spotted: Ouija Board Inspired Invitation
Do I love this Halloween Party invitation? The ouija board says yes! So creative, it almost makes me want to host a halloween party. Great news for those who do have Halloween plans this year: these can be customized and purchased on etsy!
Sneak Peek: Berkshire School “On The Go” Part 1
When the Berkshire School admissions team is on the road at school fairs and events, they’ll soon be bringing along these folders that will WOW prospective students. In collaboration with the client, I developed a travel admissions package that met all of their needs and then some: It looks amazing. It’s informative. It’s lightweight for easy travel. It’s cost-effective and can be customized.  From press sheet to finished product, here’s a sneak peek at Berkshire’s new admission folders. The best part is what will soon be inside them! Stay tuned…
Spotted: Tooth Fairy Receipts
I spotted these on one of my favorite design blogs this morning and had to share. I love it when fictional characters (or are they?) show their professional side with custom stationery and collateral. Remember Santa’s letterhead? Order your own pack of official tooth fairy receipts right here.
Spotted: Penguin Drop Cap Series
Who loves Jessica Hische? Raise your hand!  (That’s me over there…  raising my hand.)  Her typographic masterpieces consistently amaze me, so I was super excited to see that she collaborated with Paul Buckley on the design of a pretty sweet collection of book covers for Penguin. Each of the forthcoming series of books will feature one of Hische’s illustrations from her well-known Daily Drop Cap blog. Oh, and so I’ve heard, each will boast foil-stamped covers and a decorative color page stain on all three edges. Very cool…  and just in time for Christmas! The books go on sale November 27.  Spotted here.
